Gareth Bale mocks MU after losing to Tottenham

 MU's new nickname

Tottenham's 17-year title drought ended with a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final. Over the past two decades, Spurs have come close to winning the title on numerous occasions, only to fall short or lose the title in inexplicable ways. The term "Spursy" has even become a slang term in English football culture.

The phrase became popular during the social media boom - coinciding with Tottenham's empty-handedness. Shortly after winning the Europa League, Tottenham's Instagram page posted a picture of the team with the European Cup, along with the caption "Spursy".

Gareth Bale joked after his former club's victory that fans now need a new slang term. The former Tottenham star suggested the phrase "Unitedy" - after Manchester United, Tottenham's Europa League final defeat.

Sharing on TNT Sports, Bale said: "Maybe we should change the phrase Spursy to Unitedy now. As for Tottenham, this championship has helped the team no longer be labeled as weak-minded. Hopefully the Europa League title can help Tottenham develop further in the future.

Today is a great day for Tottenham. The team has waited a long time and finally, Coach Ange can enter the legend by leading Spurs to the continental title.

With that, Tottenham has finally overcome the haunting past. Hopefully this will be a stepping stone for the team to continue to develop. Tottenham will have more money from the Champions League, thereby recruiting players and strengthening the squad to continue competing in the arenas next season."
